Client
In the Internet world, client typically refers to the
Web browser (such as Netscape or Mosaic), but it can also
refer to programs that interact with servers on other computers.
This use derives from the client/server concept where a user
runs a front-end application (client) on their desktop while
heavy work requested by the client takes place on another
machine (server).
